I am a qualified nutritional therapist and nutrigenetic counsellor from the College of Naturopathic Medicine of Edinburgh. I am a member of BANT (The British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy), the IFM (Institute of Functional Medicine) and registered with the CNHC (Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council).
I completed the AFMCP (Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice) course in October 2018.
I have always had a great interest in how the body works and how the food we eat impact how we feel.
I grew up in Paris and then lived in New York and in London before moving to Glasgow in 2011. It has been fascinating to observe the impact of diet and lifestyle on different populations (and myself!).
I use my personal experience and knowledge, as well as the latest research in nutrition science to offer my clients the most personalised service they can get.
I am particularly interested in the microbiome, the trillions of little bacteria living in our gut and dictating our health, and the field of nutrigenomics, which is the study of how nutrition and lifestyle impact gene expression.
Generalised advice, one-size-fits-all diets and a “pill for an ill” approach are all failing because they don’t take into account the fact that we are all biologically unique and have different needs.
There can be thousands of different root causes for the same condition and the exact same diet may have opposite effects on two different people.
The solution I offer is a personalised approach.
I will assess your needs through a detailed health questionnaire and I will take into account your current health state, your goals, your symptoms, your likes and dislikes, your schedule, your budget, your cooking abilities and most importantly how much change you are ready to make.
I will not just tell you what to do, I will make sure you leave the consultation understanding exactly why I made these recommendations, how they are relevant to you, and you only, and how to put them into practice.
I will guide you with practical diet and lifestyle recommendations but also handouts, meal ideas, recipes, food suppliers in your area and tips for eating out.
We now have access to amazing tools that were still science fiction up until recently like DNA testing, which I love to use, however, I will always start by implementing diet and lifestyle changes.
At no point will you be judged for your lifestyle and habits, we have all made some choices that had a negative impact on our health, knowingly or not, my aim is to empower you to make the choices that are best for you in the future.
Finally, being French, I put a huge emphasis on the fact that food is pleasure so I will always make sure my recommendations are delicious and enjoyable.
